Workshop covers parenting skills
Parenting Styles and Decision Making, a workshop that emphasizes the need for good role modeling and identifies effective parenting qualities, will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at the Port Byron Federated Church on Route 38. It is sponsored by Every Person Influences Children (EPIC).
Parents, grandparents and others interested in enhancing their parenting toolbox are invited.
This is a continuous weekly series held every Monday evening for five weeks.

Group offers sign language classes
AURORA of Central New York will offer American Sign Language classes to the general public.
Beginner ASL (Part 1) is designed for the beginning student. Classes will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evenings beginning Feb. 6 to March 27. Intermediate ASL (Part II) is for those students that have completed the Beginner ASL or its equivalent (must obtain permission of instructor). Intermediate classes will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evenings beginning Feb. 7 to March 28.
Pre-registration is required. The fee for these eight-week courses is $90, which includes all instructional materials. The class requires a minimum enrollment of seven and a maximum of 15 students. Registration will be on a first come, first serve basis. All classes will be held at the office, at 518 James St., Syracuse.
To register, contact AURORA at 422-7263 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
County guide book available
The 2007 Cayuga County Visitors Guide is now available at the Cayuga County Office of Tourism. The 24-page, full-color guide provides information on the county's attractions, recreational opportunities, specialty shops, restaurants, accommodations and wineries.
New this year are pages devoted to “Health and Wellness” and “Home Grown.” “Health and Wellness” provides details on where to go for spa treatments, natural and organic products and fitness training. “Home Grown” highlights restaurants that feature products from local farms, as well as Cayuga County's award-winning wineries.
A “Fun Facts” page has also been added letting people know that Little Sodus Bay is the “Brown Trout Capital of the World” and that Auburn was the birthplace of sound film.

‘Guys and Dolls Jr.' at Union Springs
“Guys and Dolls Jr.,” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, and Saturday, Feb. 10, in the Union Springs High School auditorium. Admission is $10 per family, $5 for adults and $2 for students.
Widowed group to hold luncheon
The Association for Widowed People will have a luncheon meeting at noon Feb. 19, at Ricky's Restaurant, on West Genesee Street in Auburn. New members are always welcome.
