Maroons misfire from long range
AUBURN - With its tallest player listed at 5-9, the Auburn girls basketball team isn't vertically superior to many teams. That was even more evident against West Genesee, a team that has three starters taller than six feet.
“We might be the shortest team in the league,” Auburn coach Gary Grinnell said. “That showed big time tonight.”
It wouldn't have mattered if the Maroons got their well-known 3-point game going against the Wildcats, but they never did. Auburn averaged more than six long shots a game, but on Tuesday they were 3-for-16 in the 62-53 loss.
