May Heaven help anyone who has to have a trial in Cayuga County.
Big trucks going through downtown Auburn, I believe, is the reason that Auburn is very unattractive. South Street has lost its historic feel because the airbrakes and downshifting are all you hear day and night on this street.

It has strongly been suggested that DNA evidence would release at least one-third of inmates in our prisons today. When Roy Brown referred to how slow the wheels of justice move, he was absolutely correct when he said, “the wheels of justice are flat!”

Hillary Clinton needed a way into the White House, and New York state was her ticket to ride. The lawyer from Arkansas cares nothing for the people or economy of New York state.

Joanne Green stated that she didn't think Murray Lynch's letter about George Bush was funny. Why, Joanne Green, did you feel Murray Lynch was obligated to make you laugh, and why if he's writing about George Bush, should you expect it to be funny?

All Bush has going for him is the war in Iraq. Way to go! Yee-haw!

Robert Hunter's foolish and inane letter to the editor, in the No. 1 slot in The Citizen explains two things: One, why he is called the Joker, and two, why he was so embarrassingly thrown out of office the last time he ran.

I really think Cayuga County is soft in the head. We have other people from other counties coming to Cayuga County to get on welfare.

Why does Skaneateles have to go through many changes. Why can't it keep the same town that it's been for the past many years, and not have to get a police chief from out of town.

People of Cayuga County and Onondaga County, you need to wake up. Because Hillary Clinton has thrown her hat in the race, do we have to vote for her?

Tom McNabb, get a truck, drive around the city and pick up the trash yourself.

You'll never see your camera with an electric eye at the dump, because it's the good old boys in power who would get busted.

Joanne Green may have thought Murray Lynch's letter wasn't funny, but I thought hers was. It was funny how she called criticizing Bush hate-mongering, and it's really funny how she obviously doesn't think Bush should be criticized, just left alone to wreak more havoc.

Well, it seems to be a worthy undertaking, that volunteers will be trying to find the number of homeless we have locally. The question is, what kind of shelter will be provided for them?

Legislators Pappert and Sedor, it would have been nice if you did your homework on the hiring restriction policy before you went to the newspaper.

Why would the city of Auburn not give Mike Long a chance to be city manager, and why would we want to bring outsiders in who don't really care about our community or our town? Mike Long has been here forever, he knows the city and I think he would do fine as a city manager.

Does anyone, besides me, ever wonder why some older people who have lived in Auburn their entire lives pronounce Auburn as “orbin?”

Why don't these young people that are on welfare go out and get a job? Then we wonder why the system is in such bad shape that it's in.

Skaneateles dispatch is not just a police dispatch, it is a communication center for emergencies and non-emergencies. Why is the police chief, who does not pay town taxes, in charge of the police department dispatch anyway?

" The Biggest "problem" in this economy IS the 6 figure "suits." IF they are so talented, so capable, so deserving of that income, WHY THEN do we have these economic issues? Because they ARE NOT deserving, they DO NOT create the best product, they DO NOT have great management skills or production, engineering skills. So what do they have???? GREED !!!! That needs to stop. Doesn't it? There is such inequality in pay scales. The REAL worker, the front line person gets so little of the real profit, the real good work environment. It is a HUGE (perhaps the ONLY real) problem and most people seem to be blind or dead from the neck up, about it. "

" Id like to know why it is that the Auburn police make it their business to release criminals who drive drunk or those who are habitual thieves. It is a known fact that you have people who are career criminals, but they do little or no time in jail because they are police informants. I dont care how much information and informant gives, their crimes should be as punishable under the law as anybody else's. Why should one criminal's word be worth any more than the next person's? Auburn is full of scandall and it starts at the top and trickles down. Wake up people! "

" You are right -- unions got greedy -- they aren't what they were when my grandpa was fighting in the streets for the safety and welfare of auto workers. And the executives made bad decisions -- like keeping their own salaries huge, as well as losing touch with what customers want and need. And I don't say socialized medicine is necessarily the answer -- people need GOOD health care which is TRULY AFFORDABLE. What we have now is so far beyond control, so out of hand, so outrageous that is needs to be completely trashed and start over. As I described before, the problem is systemic -- and high costs of health care is just one of many symptoms of a corrupt and sick system -- and you can't cure the disease by treating only the symptoms, and you sure can't fix it if you waste all your money on useless unwinnable wars abroad. Our tax dollars should go towards taking care of our own people right here at home. "

Doesn't make up for how ugly they are and what horrendous gas mileage they get. You'd be better off with a truck -- at least you can haul stuff in a truck. Ugh! And there are people who buy those ugly wasteful things! "

" I agree that Health Care is a big disadvantage to the Big 3 automakers but I don't think that socialized government run health care is the answer. Have you ever talked to a Canadian about their great health care system. Most of them that can, come to the US for their medical issues because they have to wait several months to get to see a doctor. Have you talked to any senior citizens lately about their government run perscription program. You know the one that the Drug companies are getting rich off of. I don't think that our politcally minded representatives are best suited to run a health care program. The problem with the Big 3 are two fold. One, the unions got greedy with their retirement packages, and two, the executive decision makers in the companies failed to stay connected to what their customers wanted in a vehicle. They are starting to listen now. Hopefully, they are not too late. "

Time to expose the "ones" who wish to control with power & deceit! SURE! Especially when they run over us to do just that! "

" This must have gotten lost in the shuffle, please repost; In recent years we have seen a gradual comeback of Auburn's previous stature. Though it may be more spread out than originally concieved. Gradually we are rebuilding what was slowly degraded. However, sharp downfalls to our cities bustling yet peaceful way of life and family orientation can be traced back to a few very poor decisions. One is the bypass arterial through the heart of the city. Another would be the allowing of prison inmates families to reside within the county(let alone the city!) And yet another loss is the charging of admission to our forever free lakeside park. You don't have to be old to remember the "good old days" of Auburn. I would, in my lifetime, like to see OUR city run as a business to benefit the population instead of "the few". Our city has huge resources it could be capitalising on in order to lower taxes, instead of trying to charge its constituents for their usage! Hydro-electric, Parks and Recreation, and Landfill Useage are but a few of the many resources that should be making us revenue instead of costing us, either by fee or tax... I applaude the few visionaries that wish to attract tourist revenues to our town, which is truly a multi-seasonal central locale. Can anyone think of other ways the city can benefit by better utilising our regions resources? I'll wager the list will be huge when we've all put in our "Two Cents" "

" EXACTLY!! My Nissan was built in Smyrna, TN USA. Now I have a Pontiac, assembled in Canada. The other thing that American car makers seem to miss when dealing with AMERICANS, is the fact that they want something that looks good (sometimes above all else), and Im sorry to say most American cars are very ugly, they need to jazz things up some, Remember the new GTO?? what a joke that car was, looked almost exactly like a Malibu! Whole picture wrote on Jan 29, 2007 3:23 PM:

" Global Market, Agreed and blake all make good points -- that the problem in the system is endemic and can't be solved by some simplistic nonsense like "Buy American or you are putting our workers out of work!" A litigous society which is lawsuit-happy, with lawyers picking up the "golden crumbs" drive up the cost of malpractice and other "professional" insurance, which is, in turn, passed on in higher health care costs, which the average worker cannot afford, so the employer has to pick up a large portion of the cost, so their costs are too high and they have to charge more for their products while cutting costs every way they can, including cutting jobs -- it's a vicious cycle. And it doesn't help when certain industries take advantage and cut from their workers without cutting from their management and executives, who continue to line their pockets at an obscene rate -- and the company justifies this expense saying that they have to offer huge salaries and benefit packages to attract the best candidates for jobs -- which is true -- executives have come to think they "deserve" 6-figure salaries (and more) and the best ones won't work for less, though it is beyond me how anyone could "need" that much money. Meanwhile, we are paying billions of our tax dollars, not to mention the thousands of American lives, to fight a war which is cannot be "won" (whatever that means) instead of using that money to take care of our own citizens with afforadable health care and higher education. Pull one thread and the whole cloth comes along -- there is no simple pat answer. "Buy American" is largely meaningless and wouldn't solve the problem anyway. "

" In this global economy, practically every other country in the world has socialized medicine. Since the US doesn't, the employers end up picking up the tab and as a result pass on the cost to the consumer. A cost that foreign companies don't have. "

Agreed wrote on Jan 29, 2007 1:42 PM:

" To Global Market, you are right. Unfortunately the Big 3 do their research for what customers want in California only...and of course, the largest selling vehicles there are foreign vehicles. Another true fact is that the American Automotive companies are always behind the 8 ball, which hurts them in the long run. However, those aren't the reasons for cut backs. It all has to do with overhead, health care and pensions. Believe me, the offers employees get on these packages are extremely generous. "

Global Market wrote on Jan 29, 2007 12:57 PM:

" We have a global economy. Get used to it. If American car companies want to sell more cars, they need to recognize what the American consumer wants. Ford has the number one seller with the F150. They obviously know how to sell to the American truck buyer. The big 3 need to learn how to innovate faster, consolidate their platforms for savings, and unfortunately for the American worker they must reduce their health and pension obligations. These are not easy steps for anyone involved. "

" I don't think that Japanese or Canadian cars are the biggest problem for our economy. People in Canada and Japan make good salaries and if American auto makers were savy they could make vehicles and market them there. The fact that almost EVERYTHING ELSE you buy is made in China or Mexico is the problem. Its extremely difficult to find anything that is not made in China or Mexico. The trade deficit with China is rediculous. "
