CICERO - Damien Whitaker led the Auburn boys basketball team with 17 points and eight rebounds but the Maroons couldn't overcome a late 10-0 from Cicero-North Syracuse, falling to the Northstars 77-71 on Wednesday.

Auburn didn't defend well in the final quarter, losing a lead that grew to as big as nine points in the third.

Ryan Gleason added 13 points for the Maroons, Jimmy Pitts scored 14 and grabbed 10 rebounds, Dave Foltz scored 12 and Travis McLeod chipped in with 12 points and seven assists.

Auburn (11-4) hosts Oswego Friday.

Port Byron 77, Syracuse Academy of Science 44

Matt Cornish led the way with 14 points, Neale Taylor chipped in with 13 and Frank Smart added 10 for the Panthers.

Mitch David pulled down 10 rebounds and Brian Locastro had six assists.

Port Byron hosts Cato-Meridian Friday.

Weedsport 47, Pulaski 40

Justin Picciano led with 12 points, all on 3-pointers. Sean Ashby added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

The Warriors (8-9) are at Port Byron Wednesday.
