Cato boil water order still in effect
Conservation and boil water orders for the village of Cato will remain in effect until Thursday afternoon at the earliest.
Cayuga County Health Department officials were awaiting test results for water samples Wednesday.
Village residents should use bottled or pre-boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, washing dishes or food preparation. Unnecessary water use should be avoided.
State police looking into credit card theft
The New York State Police in Lysander are investigating the larceny and unauthorized use of a credit card in Baldwinsville, Cato and Syracuse on Jan. 1. State police are seeking assistance in identifying a woman and a man. It is believed they were accompanied by two young children.

Leogrande receives excellence award
Joseph Leogrande, a member of the Auburn Enlarged City School District Board of Education, has received the 2007 International Technology Education Association's Elementary School Teacher Excellence award for New York state.
The honor makes Leogrande a two-time recipient of the award, and the only two-time winner in the award's history. Leogrande, who teaches technology in the Canandaigua City School District, will be recognized at ITEA's 2007 annual conference in San Antonio, Texas, in March.
Moravia school to discuss kindergarten
The Millard Fillmore Elementary School in Moravia will host an informational evening for district parents and 4-year-olds on preparing for kindergarten.
Administrators and teachers will address parents at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, on the topic of reading and literacy. Afterward, parents can join their children in literacy activities with kindergarten teachers.
