Conservation and boil water orders have been lifted for Cato village residents, the Cayuga County Health Department decided today.
Clean test results from the municipal water system ended over a week of restrictions for residents, who've been asked to use bottled or pre-boiled water since a water main break was discovered Jan. 16. An order to conserve water was lifted last week, but reinstated after a second break occurred Saturday.
Crews under contract with the state completed repairs on the Route 370 water line Monday. Since then the line was flushed and disinfected.
Tests on samples collected over the past two days confirmed water quality has returned to normal. Residents can resume use of tap water for drinking, washing dishes, brushing teeth and preparing food.
