Champions for Life soccer deadline today
Champions for Life is now accepting registrations for its indoor soccer program.
There is an instructional league for boys and girls ages 4 to 6 on Saturday mornings, and there will also be leagues forming for boys and girls ages 7 to 18.
Team sign-ups or individual sign-ups are accepted for the session, which begins Jan. 16.

Special Olympics seeks volunteers
Volunteers are needed for Special Olympics New York's 2007 Winter Games, Feb. 23-25 in Syracuse.
Volunteers are needed to register athletes, set up sports venues, present medals, distribute lunches, sell merchandise and help with the Olympic Village and Victory Dance.
The deadline for volunteer registration is Feb. 15.

Winter Great Race to run Jan. 28
The 29th edition of the Auburn YMCA Great Winter Race will be run Jan. 28.
Five-person teams comprised of a skater, snowshoer, skier and two runners compete against other teams in a variety of categories.
A new short course for recreational racers will be offered this year.
The race begins at 10 a.m. at Casey Park and ends at Highland Golf Club.

Softball pitching clinic starts Jan. 22
There will be a softball pitching clinic for girls in grades third through eighth in the Auburn school district from 7 to 8 p.m. on Mondays Jan. 22 and 29; and Feb. 5, 12 and 26, at West Middle School.
The donation is $3 per session, and pitchers will need someone to catch for them.
The clinic is being put on by the Auburn High School coaching staff, current and former players, and invited guests.

Holmbergs to offer baseball clinic
Dennis Holmberg, manager of the Auburn Doubledays and winner of five straight Pinckney Division titles, will be putting on a baseball clinic with his son, Kenny, in the indoor batting tunnel at Falcon Park in Auburn. The clinic is open to children between ages 10 and 15 and will take place Jan. 25 and 27.
Holmberg has instructed the clinic for five years and has been a member of the Toronto Blue Jays organization for nearly 30 years.
His son, Kenny, was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2005, the same organization that drafted Dennis.
Sign-ups are now being taken at the Doubledays offices located at 130 N.
Division St. between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday or over the phone at 255-2489.
The clinic is $40 and there is space for only 40 players. All participants will receive a certificate for Doubledays tickets along with a Doubledays cap.
