A 41-year-old Port Byron man was assaulted in the head Saturday morning over the affair he reportedly has had with his alleged assailant's wife, Auburn city police reported Monday.
Randy A. Jones, 43, of 30 Lansing St., Auburn, was charged with the felony of second-degree assault over the incident. Police said the victim had come to Jones' residence at Jones' request to discuss the affair.
Police were dispatched to Jones' residence at 1:43 a.m. with a report of an assault with a weapon.
Police found the Port Byron man with a head laceration. The man said he had been assaulted with a metal pipe. Police said that a pipe was not located, but said there was time for the weapon to have been disposed of prior to their arrival.
The victim was treated at Auburn Memorial Hospital, where he required 10 stitches to close his wound.
