Hoops tourney deadline Feb. 9
The Auburn Maroons March Madness Basketball League begins March 5, for boys in grades fourth through eighth who reside in the Auburn City School District.
Deadline for accepting applications is Friday, Feb. 9.

AHS football team to be honored
The Auburn City School District would like to invite all community members to celebrate the success of the 2006 Auburn football team at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, in the Auburn High School gymnasium.
At this ceremony all community members are invited to witness the team members receive letterman jackets, championship rings, keys to the city and commemorative watches.
These items have been generously donated by local businesses and community members to recognize the efforts of these players.
The District is hopeful that this ceremony will serve as a thank you for all of the community support that has been shown for this championship team.
The 2006 Section III and the 2006 New York State Championship banners will also be unveiled at this event.
There will be no admission fee.
Wolves alumni night is tonight
The Union Springs High School wrestling team's alumni night is tonight at the high school.
The Wolves invite alumni to attend for desserts and coffee in the cafeteria at 5 p.m. before the 7 p.m. match against Groton.

Softball clinic to be held in Auburn
There will be a softball pitching clinic for girls in grades 3-8 in the Auburn school district from 7 to 8 p.m. on Mondays Jan. 22, 29; and Feb. 5, 12, 26, at West Middle School.
The donation is $3 per session, and pitchers will need someone to catch for them.
The clinic is being put on by the Auburn High School coaching staff, current and former players, and invited guests.

Scuba trial offered Friday at YMCA
The Auburn YMCA-WEIU is offering a free scuba trial from 8 to 10 p.m., Jan. 12.
No pre-registration is required.

Champions for Life soccer to start soon
Champions for Life is now accepting registrations for its indoor soccer program.
There is an instructional league for boys and girls ages 4 to 6 on Saturday mornings, and there will also be leagues forming for boys and girls ages 7 to 18. Team sign-ups or individual sign-ups are accepted for the session, which begins Jan. 16.
