Two Cents

Joe Biden and Barbara Boxer say they're for the troops, but whose troops?
What's next besides county taxes being raised, is school taxes being raised in just a few months.

I sure hope that Emerson Park director Mr. Duckett reported the muddy water conditions in front of the bathing beach area at Emerson Park to the proper authorities over the weekend.

It would appear that the only two who have Hillary figured out are Bob Ward and Mallard Fillmore on Jan. 8, 2007.

It is wonderful to see that three longtime eyesores in the city are being renovated. Thank you to the owners of 103 Franklin St., the house on the corner of South Fulton and Seymour streets, the house on Union Street.

I can't stand it when people complain that others are complaining in the Two Cents. Before Two Cents came along, we didn't have a place to share our concerns, big or little, where we would be heard.

How true, how true, how true! Judy Ducayne is right: the county legislators need a full-time babysitter.

" You can't win a war like this -- you'd think we would have learned when we tried it before on a smaller scale in Vietnam. Yes, terrorism is horrible and wrong, but you can't stamp it out -- even if you could destroy al-Qaida, there'd be some other group to take its place. Instead, you need to take a good hard look at how The West has behaved towards less powerful countries and try to understand why they feel the way they do about us from their POV -- and that is only the first tiny baby step towards trying to figure out how to makew change. Personally, I think it is too late -- we are reaping what we sowed even while we deliver unto others for what they sowed -- the cycle is too far gone to turn back and there is no solution. We are Rome in the years of decline to barbarism, but sending our sons and daughters to be cannon fodder, to come home mained or mentally and emotionally damaged if they come home at all is not going to change anything for the better, it's a waste of good lives, a sacrifce for NOTHING, except maybe a chance for the handful of ultra-powerful super rich men in the world to get even richer and more powerful, for them to manipulate, control and destroy anyone who would stand between them and more power. And that is the only thing for which we are truly sacrificing our children -- and it's disgusting and immoral. IF the war really were about putting an end to terrorism, IF that were even possible, then, yes, it would be a justifiable evil -- but it is not. It is just plain evil, no mitigating factors at all. " that if the teachers around here really cared about our children and there future they wouldnt be dropping out left and right!!! All that matters now is getting a stable job and supporting there families which they shouldnt be doing they should be getting there education and start raising there own familys a while down the road....so dont blame the parents blame the teachers for not doing there jobs cause it didnt work in the 70's (check the spelling).... please teachers make that diffrence "

" If you justify acting like the terrorists, you become the terrorists. We're America because we believe in whats legally and morally right. This war is neither. "

" I think that all the county legislators should pay their own health insurance, bacause they are only part time. Their insurance is better than full time workers get. If they really want to help the County, why don"t they volunteer their time, and save the County some money. "

" Three long time eyesores? Auburn is one BIG ONE!! Pick the house on the corner of Holley and Lansing - been down for almost a year, trash on the street by MetroMattress/Arby's lasts weeks on trash day, the condition of our streets are unbelieveable. Just want to add this for kicks... Holland stadium would shine with a turf field and a cardboard box looking press box. "

Whose troops? wrote on Jan 10, 2007 11:19 AM:

" What are you talking about? The best way to support the troops is by working to bring them home and out of harms way. Supporting an illegal and immoral war is NOT a good thing. AJ "
