AUBURN - Three teenagers entered not guilty pleas in Cayuga County Court Tuesday to numerous felony charges related to allegations the trio twice tried to rob an Auburn man Aug. 31 of money, including threatening him with what looked like a pistol.
Joseph Kowal, 19, with a last known address of 5555 West Lake Road, Auburn, and Corey Wooldridge, 17, with a last known address of 17 Washington St., Auburn, are both being held in Cayuga County Jail. Kowal's bail was maintained at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. Wooldridge's bail was reduced to $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond from $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.
Ryan Martinez, 18, with a last known address of 88 Rochester St., Port Byron, is out on bail set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.
The three are accused of burglarizing a Hobson Avenue, Auburn, residence around 12:45 a.m., awakening the sole occupant.
When the man responded to the break-in, Wooldridge is accused hitting the 49-year-old man repeatedly with a board.
The three also are accused of returning later in the night - as the man was cleaning up broken glass from the earlier break-in - and displaying what appeared to be a semiautomatic pistol, racking the action, pointing it at him and demanding money from him.
All three had their cases adjourned for motion arguments scheduled for Feb. 27.
Also in court:
€ Brian S. Cuatt, 36, of Apt. 2, 15 Perrine St., Auburn, had his sentencing for the felony crime of third-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon adjourned to next Tuesday because his attorney, Jethro Loftus, did not appear.
Cuatt has admitted to holding a 28-inch samurai-style sword to the head of a 14-year-old boy during a domestic incident May 22.
Cuatt is being held in the Cayuga County Jail on $2,500 cash or $2,500 bond.
