Auditions in works for 2007 season

Several area theater groups are holding auditions in the next few weeks for a variety of plays.
Geneva

Theater Guild is auditioning for #“I Do! I Do!#” from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 8 and 10, in the Presbyterian church, 24 Park Place, Geneva.

Roles call for one man and one woman. Bring a prepared audition song. For more information, call 828-6731.

€ Seneca Community Players are looking to fill the cast for Agatha Christie#'s #“Murder at the Vicarage,#” at 7 p.m. Jan. 4 and 5, at John Morris Manor Bed & Breakfast, 2138 Route 89 in Seneca Falls. Call 568-9057 for details.

€ The Baldwinsville Theatre Guild will hold auditions for its upcoming production of #“Never Too Late#,” 7 p.m. Jan. 18 to 20, at the First Presbyterian Education Center, 64 Oswego Road, Baldwinsville. For more information, contact Steve Borek, 849-1057.

€ Appleseed Productions will hold auditions for #�” at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 to 6. Rehearsals for this production will not begin until early May, and performances are scheduled from June 22 to July 7.

Auditions will be held at Appleseed Theater, 116 W. Glen Ave., Syracuse. All 27 roles (only two females) are open.

Auditioners will be asked to prepare a short monologue as well as a song to sing during audition. For more information, contact the director Dustin M. Czarny at 383-4318 or Appleseed Productions at 492-9766.

€ For those who prefer to be in the audience, APT will host the Kitchen Theater ensemble again with a production of the original family play, #“Rebecca Returns,#” this Sunday, Jan.7, at the Auburn Public Theater in downtown Auburn.

€ Last season playwright Theresa Rebeck brought Syracuse Stage audiences to their feet with the comic gem, #“Bad Dates.#” Her fascination with the tricky negotiations of male-female relationships continues with #“Spike Heels,#” in which she plunges head first into the complexities of the battle of the sexes and pops up with very tart comedy for adult audiences. The play opens Jan. 17 and runs through Feb. 4.

€ Also on the January schedule are #“Comfort Food,” a world premier musical by Rachel Lampert and Larry Pressman at Kitchen Theater in Ithaca from Jan. 11 through Feb. 10.

€ The Talent Company opens #“Disney#'s High School Musical#” Jan. 12, at the New Times Theater at the State Fairgrounds. The play runs weekends through Feb. 11. #“The Diviners#” will run from Jan. 26 through Feb. 10 at Appleseed Productions.

€ Auburnian (and Ithaca College alumnus) Marc Petrosino has joined forces with three other puppeteers to form Monkey Boys Productions, a new production company based in New York City. The group is currently designing larger than life puppets for a live stage show based on Nickelodeon#'s #“Go, Diego, Go!#” They have also developed a pilot for a children#'s television show called #“Tiki Tiki Island#” and are preparing to pitch it to networks. Marc has previously worked on #“Sesame Street,#8” #“Blue's Room#” and #“Crankyankers#” in addition to his performances on Broadway and in national tours. His brother, Joe, is currently a technical director with the national tour of #“Lights in the Piazza.#” Talented men, both.
