Today morality appears to have gone down the tubes. A man and a woman living together, whether married or not, separate for the flimsiest reason, each believing that he or she is the greatest person in the world and is entitled to have everything his or her way.
Why is it that in the asbestos investigation legislative spokeswoman Petrus always seems to be the last one up there to know what's going on? Probably why she was given the position.
Why are only a portion of the arrests that occur at Auburn High School ever reported in The Citizen? Is The Citizen just a terrible source of information or are school administrators trying to hide something?
In terms of grammar, content and an all around butchering of the English language, I thought no letter to the editor could possibly be worse than some of those written by Joe Leogrande. That was, however, up until I read Cherry Love-Duncan's.
This “slightly to the right of center” Auburnian truly believes that The Citizen is the most honest and fair newspaper in the U.S. and when we get temporarily outraged at the liberal nonsense like we read in Tuesday's Two Cent column, we have to remember that they have a right to have their nonsense printed, just as The Citizen allows we “slightly to the right of center” to have our facts out in the open.
John Chick has been arrested for the asbestos scandal. Let's see what kind of a chick he turns out to be; I'll bet it's a canary.
I think we need to hire Dave and the Auburn High School team to come in front of city council and show them what teamwork is all about. Maybe we could get city council to get a little teamwork going.
I think the teachers at the high school do need diversity.
The city could save a lot of money if it permanently affixed the yellow crime scene tape around the entire city limits of Auburn and left it there permanently, instead of every time there's a crime in Auburn putting up new tape and taking it down again.
On his last few days as sheriff, I wish Robert Outhouse would order his deputies to stake out the Lakeside Trading Gas station in Union Springs and write tickets for everybody buying untaxed gasoline. These people are committing felonies and should not continue to get away with it.
I really feel Auburn needs more jobs. We don't need another drug store.
These people that are on WIC, when they go to the grocery store shopping, why don't they go through a larger lane? The other day I got caught behind two people going through the express lane.
When I read Judy's Ducayne's column of Dec. 26 about animals being in her freezer or on a leash, I wanted to vomit. Get this dangerous person out of the paper.
Judy Ducayne, go back to the dark ages with you archaic “a woman's place is in the home” attitude. You are nothing but a weak subservient doormat that gives real women a bad name.
Why would those three department heads ever want to go some place else when they've got the opportunity to work elbow to elbow with David Dempsey.
There's nothing wrong with Councilor Smith except he's fighting an uphill battle. He's the only one on the council with any sense; people should listen to him more.
If you're going to print the negative statements about the new sheriff that's going to be sworn in soon, it's only fair that you print the positive things about him. He's a very good man, he hasn't even taken office yet and you need to give him a chance.
I just see that John Chick's major job for the county was driving Mr. Lepak around. Why would Mr. Lepak have to be driven around and how much did the taxpayers pay for that?
Judy Ducayne, if people had enough backbone to tell the truth today, I think you would be surprised to know how many agree with all you had to say in your column on Dec. 26. It was a wonderful expression of what a lot of people think but don't say.
