There is an injustice I think should be brought to the people of Auburn's attention. This injustice is what I have seen and read about while living here in Auburn. This injustice I will write about is through our justice system and who is sent to prison, and who isn't.
Every day I read in The Citizen about drug dealers, assaulters, robbers, petit larcenists going to prison and jail for a year or better. But I was appalled to hear about a 20-year-old man who sexually assaulted a 4-year-old baby girl by means of penetration and only received six months in the county jail and 10 years probation.
Or the man who had oral sex with a girl who is in high school and gets caught red-handed by his neighbor doing it, and only received a year in the county jail and out of that only does eight months.
These crimes are against our youth, our future of tomorrow.
My heart goes out to the 4-year-old girl, and if I had my way, the monster who did that to this precious child would never see the outside again under any circumstances.
My heart goes out to both of these little girls. I cannot apologize enough for the actions of these men who have hurt them so bad.
These crimes are against our youth, our society, the future of tomorrow.
If we cannot see that there is something wrong with this, then God help us, for we are supposed to protect our youth, not let monsters take away their innocence.
I feel we should realize there is a problem and do something to help, by making tougher laws against people who commit these heinous crimes against our youth.
I hope and pray we all agree on this issue.
