Mercy Health and Rehabilitation Center soon will get a shot in the arm. Sen. Michael Nozzolio announced the Auburn-based non-profit will receive $487,500 in state funding. The money will come from the state's Healthcare Efficiency and Affordability Law for New Yorkers.
HEAL NY money supports hospitals and nursing homes throughout the state that restructure their facilities to improve the delivery of quality care to patients.
“It is important that New York state continue to make wise investments to strengthen our nursing homes and ensure the viability of health care services in Cayuga County,” Nozzolio said in a written statement.
The Republican from Fayette also pointed to Mercy as a vital facility for the community.
The center is a nursing facility that provides both long and short-term care.
The funding likely will go towards purchasing equipment and the expansion of Mercy's adult medical day program, said Stephen Ash, administrator for the center.
“These monies help to ensure a bright future for Mercy,” Ash said in a release.
