Union Springs to host alumni night
The Union Springs High School wrestling team is having an alumni night on Jan. 10 at the high school.
The team would like alumni to attend for desserts and coffee in the cafeteria before the 5 p.m. match against Groton.

Pancake breakfast to benefit basketball
There will be a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Knights of Columbus Council 207. The event will benefit Auburn High School basketball.
The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under 10. Children under 5 are free.
Softball clinics at LeMoyne College
LeMoyne College is hosting softball clinics from 9 a.m. to noon Sundays Dec. 3 and 17, Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28, and Feb. 11, at the LeMoyne Athletic and Recreation Building.
The cost is $12 per week and is for girls 10 and up. The clinic offers instruction in pitching, catching, hitting, fielding and base running by the LeMoyne coaching staff and current and former players.

Fishing seminars at Bass Pro this week
Bass Pro Shops will host a series of ice fishing seminars during Ice FIshing Weekend, Dec. 9-10.
Events include several seminars, equipment sales, and an inside fishing derby for adults and kids. There is no cost, and the event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Howland fundraiser is set for Dec. 17
A fund-raising effort on behalf of John Howland will take place during a benefit in his honor from noon to 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 17 at the Union Springs Fire House on Cayuga Street.
The public is invited to the event, which is going to be held for the 20-year-old Howland, who is undergoing treatments for sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma, a vary rare form of cancer.
Howland was a 2004 graduate of Union Springs High School, where he played football.
Tickets are $20 for the event, which features a pasta dinner provided by Lasca's, music, raffles, prizes, an auction and a 50/50 drawing.
The ticket price includes a chance to win a recliner, as well as five chances toward any raffle basket.
Bass Pro annual ice derby is Feb. 24
Bass Pro Shops annual ice derby will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, at Owasco Lake.
Participants can register at Bass Pro Shops Sportsman's Center until Friday, Feb. 23, or at the Cascade Grill and the Auburn Express Mart.
The event is open to all licensed adults and children. Anglers must register before fishing.
There will be one prize per person per division.
The fee is $10 for adults and $5 for children 13 and under.
