Military is getting by on recycled materials

Tuesday, December 5, 2006 9:41 AM EST

Want to feel you have “done” something for our troops and their efforts against the insurgents in Iraq?
Everyone knows that a large percentage of our military equipment contains recycled metals. Something that almost nobody knows, but I know to be a fact, is that certain small arms ammunition used in Iraq contains lead which has been salvaged from old sewer and toilet plumbing. If the bathroom in your older home or apartment has recently been remodeled and the old lead drainpipes have been replaced, you can proudly say you have “done” something for the war effort in Iraq. Thank you for your “effort.” Maybe that's why the unofficial bird of Iraq is “Duck!”
