Theater reviewer receives award
The Theatre Association of New York State (TANYS) has awarded Tom Woods, of Auburn, a region service award for his online publication “Theater News.” The honor is given to an individual who provides services to and promotes community and academic theater in New York state.
TANYS President Ruth Legg noted that “Theater News” has become an invaluable tool for theater companies in central New York and the Finger Lakes region.
Woods has worked in local theater since 1975 as an actor, director and technician. In 1996, he began to review theater for The Citizen, winning Associated Press Awards in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
He resurrected his newsletter in February of this year to provide an online vehicle for every level of central New York's theater groups to publicize events.
The free newsletter is available to interested readers by e-mailing Woods at thewoodhead@yahoo.com.
