LeMoyne to hold softball clinics
LeMoyne College is hosting softball clinics from 9 a.m. to noon Sundays Dec. 3 and 17, Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28, and Feb. 11, at the LeMoyne Athletic and Recreation Building.

The cost is $12 per week and is for girls 10 and up. The clinic offers instruction in pitching, catching, hitting, fielding and base running by the LeMoyne coaching staff and current and former players.

Fishing seminars at Bass Pro SHops

Bass Pro Shops will host a series of three seminars Dec. 2 on steelhead fishing. Topics include: where to catch steelhead (11 a.m.), fly fishing for steelhead (noon), and centerpin floatfishing for steelhead (2 p.m.).

YMCA to start

basketball league

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU will be holding a six -week basketball league Sunday afternoons beginning Dec. 3. The league is for 14- to 17-year-olds who want to get in a lot of playing time. As an added bonus, participants will have gym access Saturdays from noon to 7 p.m.

Registration deadline is Monday, Nov. 27. Fee is $25 for members, $50 for the general public.

CYO registration Wednesday night

There will be CYO sign ups from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday Nov. 29, at Sacred Heart Hall. Registration is open to ninth- through 12th-graders who can document affiliation with a Catholic parish. The registration fee is $75.

Racquetball deadline is Wednesday

The Auburn YMCA-WEIU is hosting the 26th annual Freeze-Out Racquetball Tournament, Dec. 1-3.

The single-elimination tournament is open to both youth and adult players and offers divisions for all skill levels and all ages. Double divisions are also available.

All matches will be played at the YMCA, and matches consist of two games to 15 points, with a tiebreaker to 1 if necessary. The fee includes a commemorative shirt, hospitality throughout the weekend, a hot buffet on Saturday and awards for all finalists.

Registration forms are available at the YMCA. The deadline to register is Nov. 29.

Soap box derby to take place in May

The 2007 edition of the Nucor Bar Mill Central New York All-American Soap Box Derby will be held May 26. Boys and girls ages 8-17 are eligible to participate.
