I had thought about taking a couple of my kids from Moscow, Russia, to Syracuse just for the big game, and in hindsight I should have made the 24-hour door-to-door trip.
But even here in Moscow, I followed the Maroons' amazing run through the playoffs and heralded the news to everyone I came across on Sunday, though most didn't care and many had never seen an American football game.
For anyone with roots in Auburn, and certainly for those of us who were privileged to put on that uniform in our high school days, this day should go down as the greatest moment in sports.
To all of the champion Maroons, know that your great season has touched the lives of people on the other side of the globe, and know that whatever you do in the future, you have already left a lasting legacy to your community and your school.
I trust that someone is already designing the statue outside of Holland Stadium.
