Spartans fall short

It looked the Spartans were going to make it close.
The Cayuga Community College women's basketball team was within 13 points of undefeated Alfred State with 10 minues left to play.

Then Alfred erupted, and Cayuga fell 78-48, Tuesday.

Alyson COltong led the Spartans with 18 points and six rebounds, TIffany Collinsowrth chipped in with six points and six boards, and Michelle Taylor grabbed seven rebounds.

The Spartans (1-3) host Hudson Valley at 7 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the two-day Cayuga Invitational.
