A Lakehurst Drive, Auburn, resident returned home noon Monday after a half-hour outing to find the door to her home open and items missing.
A burglar may even have been still inside her home on the southeast side of the city when she returned, Auburn Police Department Det. Doug Parker said.
“Our concern, if we've got a daytime burglar, is if he's caught inside the house and something worse could happen,” Parker said.
The APD is seeking information from any neighbors or other passerbys to the area who may have seen the burglar. Parker can be contacted at 255-4726.
The noon-hour burglary is a good reminder to residents to keep their homes secured when leaving them, Parker said.
If residents see anything suspicious when they arrive home, they should call the police department before entering, Parker said.
