Why do some think laws don't apply to them?

Whenever I hear a story like the Dunkin' Donuts predicament, I get very concerned.
It seems that more and more people totally ignore rules and regulations. People using cell phones while driving are another example of blatant disregard for a law.

The article in The Citizen recently stated that the police chief said they may have to close the drive-through at Dunkin' Donuts or put more officers on the street to take care of such situations.

Why do some people think that obeying rules and regulations are not meant for them?

Are they the same people who show lack of respect for all types of law enforcement even up the ranks to the president?

Even if you do not agree with the laws or policies, respect should still be shown.

What kind of example do we want to show our children and grandchildren?

Now that the election is over, whether you agree with the results or not, can't we do a better job as a citizen? I think we can try.
