Salvation Army has helped neighborhood, volunteers

Saturday, November 11, 2006 11:48 PM EST

We would like to thank the Salvation Army for its continued support during the many years we have prepared the Thanksgiving dinner for those in need.
Twenty years ago at this time, we were in the planning stage and unable to find a hall and kitchen where someone would sponsor us.

The Salvation Army, without hesitation, agreed to assist us, although complete strangers to them, in fulfilling a dream.

During these past years we, along with the Salvation Army, have grown. What started as a handful of diners grew to a bustling dining room together with more than 200 deliveries to shut-ins.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who pitched in over the years, particularly Dr. and Mrs. Smith - without them there would have been no deliveries. Again, thanks go to the Salvation Army - without them the problem would never have been able to exist.

We hope this program will continue as it is obviously needed in our community.
