“If You Give A Mouse A Cookie” has been a favorite children's book by Laura Numeroff for years.
The story of the young boy who accommodates the demands of a bossy mouse will be performed by the Omaha Theater Company today at the Smith Opera House.
The show will pull children and adults into a tale of circular logic: If you give a mouse a cookie, he will need a glass of milk, then he will need a straw, then napkin and the requests never end.
The Omaha cast is among the nation's leading children's theater companies performing coast to coast at more than 60 venues.
Among the actors will be giant-sized props to make the adult playing the young boy appear child sized.
The props are even larger to scale the actor down to mouse size.
Although this is a children's story, the play is a tribute to vaudeville and uses slapstick comedy that will also appeal to adults, who will recognize the circular pattern that often accompanies a child's demands.
