Visions flashed of ladies twirling in cocktail dresses and gentlemen toasting sparkling glasses of wine while dining on a myriad of fine cheeses, while chocolate fountains of fondue splash succulent flavor onto tiny hors d' oeuvres as Jeanne Hogan, Tyburn Academy principal, described the school's upcoming fundraising benefit.

“It's going to be a classy event,” Hogan said.

Tyburn Academy will be the beneficiary of the wine and fondue event at the Knights of Columbus in Auburn this Sunday. It will feature an International wine tasting of selections from Spain, Chile, Italy, Australia and New Zealand.

“You will also be able to purchase wines at discounted prices,” added Hogan, who anticipates a very pleasant afternoon.

Amongst the delectable delights, raffles for gift certificates and gift baskets will be held throughout the evening.

One raffle includes a $500 certificate to the Fingerlakes Mall for Christmas shopping, Hogan said. The other is a toy basket, which includes the anniversary edition of Tickle-Me-Elmo.

Hogan explained that this is the second such event to benefit the school and described the first as a “pleasant affair.”

“This is a festive occasion for people to enjoy the ambiance of the season and to get ready for the season,” she said. “It will be a nice and very relaxing event for people who would like to come and join us for a few hours.”
