A Sterling man was sentenced in Cayuga County Court last week to 16 weekends in jail for having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl.
Eric Monahan, 20, of 900 Route 104A, Sterling, was sentenced to four months of weekends in Cayuga County Jail and 10 years probation. He was sentenced for the felony charges of second-degree attempted criminal sex act and second-degree attempted rape.
Both Monahan and the girl lied to their respective parents about the other person's age before their true ages were revealed six months into their relationship.
Monahan presented himself as four years younger and the girl presented herself as four years older.
The parents of the 13-year-old girl involved in the relationship initially said they wouldn't press charges over a romantic and sexual relationship if the relationship stopped, but then the girl was truant from school in order to see Monahan and her parents contacted the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office.
Also in court:
#€ Eric Tuttle, 20, with a last known address of Utica, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of third-degree criminal sale of marijuana. Tuttle admitted selling 28 grams of marijuana Jan. 31, 2005, in exchange for $215 within Auburn city limits.
Tuttle's sentencing was scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 7.
#€David Westmiller, 29, with a last known address of 25 Hoffman St., Auburn, has until Wednesday, Nov. 1, to travel to Florida and turn himself in on a Florida fugitive warrant accusing him of failing to appear for court dates related to the charges of nonpayment for rental property.
If Westmiller does not go to Florida to answer the charges, Corning told him he must show up in Cayuga County Court and face an extradition hearing.
In July, Westmiller was released on his own recognizance because he had been held for a month in the Cayuga County Jail on the fugitive warrant.
