St. Mary's Church, at 15 Clark St., Auburn, is very busy this fall.
Special congratulations to these couples who have recently been married or are preparing for marriage in the beautiful church of St. Mary's: Richard Meade and Ann Marie Heizmann, Robert Gauthier and Melinda Panek, Christopher D'Agnes and Jennifer Quinzi, Matthew Strodel and Alicea Kochis, Daniel Grady and Laura Roberts, Steven Abate and Kimberly Walter, and Christopher Ruper and Meghan Rizzieri. May God's every blessing be with you throughout your married lives and may you always keep him in your midst.

St. Mary's parish also recently welcomed the following little ones into its faith community through the sacrament of baptism: Benjamin Leone Poole, Allison Marie Kehoe, Martin Rene Aguilar, Marissa Noelle Comstock, Kylee Christine Cordway, Malachy Augustine Jensen and Luke Townes Parker. May each one grow in faith every day of their lives.

“Kids-Night-Out” is a terrific program sponsored by the St. Mary's Parish Life Committee. It takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the third Saturday of each month, in Schrader Hall. All children ages 3 to 10 are invited, and it includes dinner and supervision for the children. This provides a great opportunity for parents to go out for an hour and a half and is a very thoughtful ministry for young, busy families.

Very special congratulations go out to Rosemary Donato of St. Mary's Parish. After several years of study and preparation, she was recently received into the Secular Franciscan Order at the Church of the Assumption in Syracuse. The process of becoming a professed Secular Franciscan is a journey that involves three separate stages and culminates in a lifelong commitment to live the gospel following the example of St. Francis of Assisi. Secular Franciscans are lay people who live and work in the world, but follow the spirit of St. Francis with a regular prayer life and apostolic activity. To learn more about this order, call (800) FRANCIS or visit www.nafra-sfo.org. God bless you Rosemary for such a beautiful gift of self.

The St. Mary's Choristers are back in full voice this season with returning members Frankie Smith, Taylor and Maggie Flurschutz, Adam Birtwell, Nick LaDuca, Cierra Axton, Jack and Emily Mahoney and Adriana Mucedola. They are also proud to welcome new members: T.J. LaDuca, Markie Flurschutz, Alex Mucedola and accompanist Jane Brown. The Choristers welcome any third through seventh graders. For more information, call Colleen Miles at 252-0237.

Junior and senior high school students from St. Mary's will be Trick-or-Treating for food for the St. Alphonsus food pantry. Some will be dressed in Halloween costumes and will be coming to your neighborhood from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday or from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday. They appreciate our support and donations for this worthy cause.

A Holy Hour for Vocations was also held recently at the church. This will be scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. every first and third Tuesday of the month beginning in November. Everyone is invited to come and spend an hour before the Holy Eucharist and pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Many thanks to Megan Wayne for organizing this event.

“The Bells of St. Mary's” will continue to ring for many years to come, thanks to a fundraising project to upgrade the mechanisms that run the bells. This project continues to be going very well and is a tribute to this beautiful church and faith community.

The month of November is also full of activity for St. Mary's parish. A Mass of Remembrance will be held at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, to pray for all those who have died, especially during the past year.

In addition, the sacrament of confirmation for the Auburn Catholic community will be held at St. Mary's Church at 7 p.m. Nov. 15.

The month of November also includes the annual Diocesan Youth Convention, “Walk This Way,” Nov. 17 through 19. More than 600 Catholic youth will gather together at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rochester to be inspired by keynote speaker, Bob Perron, the “Stooge 4 Christ,” where they will explore God as the Way, the Truth and the Light.

Last but not least, the pasta dinners at St. Mary's continue to be a popular communitywide event at 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month, in Schrader Hall. This group works like a well-oiled machine. The October dinner had a packed hall, and take-outs were ready in about three minutes. Thanks to everyone who works so hard each month to make this event such a great success.

Have a safe and happy Halloween, and enjoy the little trick-or-treaters as they come your way. It's such a fun holiday for the children. And remember, God loves you so much.

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.”
