Lewis catches lunker at fishing derby
Don Lewis, of Homer, caught the lunker - a 10-pound, 27-inch brown trout - in the South Shore Marina 2006 Fall Derby.
Joe Basil, of Auburn, won the northern pike category (8 pounds, 15 ounces, 33.75 inches), Bob Feeter, of Auburn, won the walleye category (4 pounds, 3 ounces, 23.5 inches), Ed Callis, of Clarks Summit, Pa., won the smallmouth bass category (4 pounds, 7 ounces, 19.5 inches), George Spinelli won the largemouth bass category (3 pounds, 15 ounces, 19.75 inches), Steve Groce, of Weedsport, won the lake trout category (9 pounds, 12 ounces, 31 inches), Chris Evans, of Auburn won the rainbow trout category (4 pounds, 6 ounces, 24.5 inches), and Chet Crosby, of Auburn, won the perch category (15 ounces, 13.5 inches).
In all, 118 adults and 13 children participated.
King to be honored at Sennett Fire Dept.
There will be a sports banquet honoring Auburn legend Ormie King at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the Sennett Fire Department.
Doug Logan is the master of ceremonies and guest speakers are Jim Boeheim and Mike Hopkins.

Dutch Hollow to host scramble
Dutch Hollow Country Club is hosting a three-man scramble Saturday, Oct. 14. There will be a 10 a.m. shotgun start.

There will be a golf tournament to benefit Laurel Biata Sunday, Oct. 8, at Lakeview Golf and Country Club.
The four-person scramble is $50 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, dinner and prizes.

Falcon's Turkey Shoot Oct. 22
The Falcon Sportsmen Club will host its 49th annual Turkey Shoot Sunday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to dark.
There will be shooting events for rifles, handguns, shotguns and muzzleloaders. There will be raffles, refreshments and food, and the public is welcome. Nearly 200 turkeys were given away in 2005.

St. Mary's CYO Basketball and Cheerleading program is accepting registration for the 2006-07 season.

There will be a Columbus Day open gym from 10 a.m. to noon at Champions for Life sports center.
The cost is $5 for non members and $3 for members.
There is also open gym every Friday night until June 28.
There is a family session from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and a junior session from 8:30 to 10 p.m. for ages 11 and up (including dodgeball tournament).
