Four Auburn golfers are headed to Seven Oaks Golf Club at Colgate University in May for the Section III tournament. The Section III qualifier was held at The Links at Erie Village in East Syracuse on Thursday and after narrowly missing the tournament last year, Brian Walker shot a 77 on the par-71 course to lead the Maroons.
Also qualifying were Sean Hogan (80), Ryan May (81) and Bobby Dushatinski (81). Golfers needed to shoot 10-over par to earn a spot in the tournament; Ryan Gleason carded an 82 and missed by one stroke. CJ Shaw shot an 85. The Maroons as a team placed second out of eight teams with a 401, just four strokes behind first-place Baldwinsville.
They finished the season with a 16-3 record.
“For the most part, the team had a good day,” Auburn coach Tony LoCastro said. “Some of the guys came up a little short, but the conditions weren't the greatest out there. It was a good effort overall.”
