Who will pay when players get hurt on new field?

Thursday, September 28, 2006 9:51 AM EDT

So the state will pay 80 percent of the cost of installing AstroTurf. How much will it cost to pay for the injured players? It seems that Onondaga's Alliance Bank stadium has been less than they hoped for and now they want to change it.
One of the players made a diving catch and injured his shoulder, which made him unable to play the rest of the year. And it seems all of the players who use this field want it changed.

Does anybody know what is under AstroTurf? The answer is concrete.

Do you think that high school age players can play on this hard surface and not get hurt?

The 80 percent for installation is just the first of a long line of cost. The lawsuits from injured players will be large, and you know who will pay.

Think before you vote.

Not one of them have gone with out a class book through elementary school right to now their Jr year. Neither have any of their classmates. Thanks for the humor though. "

" Big deal- I agree with you but this money can go for one thing and one thing only and you know the answer to that. Don't like the way it is write Albany they made the rules not Auburn school district. The money can't come from one place and used in another. "

" richard, first of all, sand was placed under the old "astro turf" not concrete. secondly, this is not Astro turf being proposed, it's field turf totally different. need to get your facts straight before you put your words to print. "

" ASTRO TURF, FIELD TURF, FAKE GRASS, INDOOR OUTDOOR CARPETING. ITS ALL THE SAME . WE DON'T NEED IT!!!! MY SON HAS NOT HAD A MATH BOOK IN 3 YEARS!!! AND WERE WORRIED ABOUT WHAT TO PLAY FOOTBALL ON. LETS INVEST IN EDUCATION FOR A CHANGE AND NEVER MIND THE EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITES. LEARNING SHOULD BE A PRIORITY IN SCHOOLS. HAVE YOU SPOKE TO ANY KIDS LATLEY? THEY TALK LIKE IDIOTS!! "

" Know the facts before you speak. It's not astro turf they want to put down it's field turf its nothing like astro turf. http://www.fieldturf.com/product/overview.cfm If you knew the facts you would know at Alliance Bank stadium they are ripping out the astro turf and relacing it with the same field turf proposed here. My son has played on field turf and loves it. He says it has length like grass and you feet dont stick like astro turf. When you go down he has said you land no harder than on groud/ grass. Know your facts. "
