Adams Foundation presents Oppens
Music lovers may purchase tickets for the upcoming Ursula Oppens' Auburn piano concert on Sunday, Oct. 15.
Tickets cost $15, or series tickets cost $25 and include Robert DeGaetano's April 29 concert.
Students may buy tickets for $5. They are available at Auburn Musician, 165 Grant Ave.; Sam's Shoe Service, 20 E. Genesee St.; Speno's Music, 3 E. Genesee St.; Whiting's Wallpaper & Paints, 9 N. Fulton St.; and Westminster Presbyterian Church office, 17 William St.
Oppen's performance is part of the Adams Foundation Piano Series.
This is the sixth annual series of classical and new works. The Cayuga County Arts Council and Westminster Presbyterian Church sponsor the series.
Retired teachers to meet for breakfast
Owasco retired teachers will meet for breakfast at the Hilltop restaurant in Skaneateles at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3.

Learn to properly care for antiques
Peter Wisbey, executive director of the Seward House, will present a program “Caring for Your Antiques” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at the Frontenac Museum, 178 Cayuga St. in Union Springs. The program is free and open to the public.
Refreshments will be served. Wisbey will share his extensive knowledge and research regarding antiques and also be available to answer any questions from participants.

Wegmans aids
Prevention Network
Wegmans Food and Pharmacy has teamed up with Prevention Network to prevent underage drinking.
The initiative includes posters warning teens of the dangers of drinking alcohol. The advertisements will hang in schools, libraries, stores, community centers and Wegmans stores during October.
The network began the initiative in April last year to raise community awareness of teen drinking.
Network member Greg Daily, of Fayetteville, designed the campaign posters.
Cayuga Reads talks about journalism
The Cayuga Reads community reading project will host a talk about journalism and ethics at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Cayuga Community College Auburn campus library.
Francis Ward, a journalism professor at the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, will talk about ethical decisions that journalists must make.
The event is free and no registration is needed.

Hardy retires after 22 years at Colgate
After 22 years of service at Colgate University, Auburn native Jack Hardy will be retiring Oct. 1.
Recently, as senior video/meeting production specialist, Hardy designed and implemented new audiovisual systems and directed efforts of catalog and preserve video archives.
Hardy will return to Auburn to continue to restore his home, which has been in the family since 1905.
