A Tuesday vote in Albany ushered in Cayuga Community College President Dennis Golladay, who will leave the Auburn institute.
The State University of New York offered Golladay a chance to be vice chancellor for community colleges, beginning Dec. 1.
"Well, it's a major loss. The reason he left us is because he's an outstanding individual and it will be very hard to find a replacement of that caliber," Cayuga County Legislature Chairman George Fearon said.
Vice President of Academic Affairs Phil Gover was offered the title of interim president at CCC.
The college board administration is responsible for Golladay's replacement.
He's served as president for a decade.
One of his biggest accomplishments was to make CCC the only community college have a NASA-sponsored Institute for the Application of Geospatial Technology.
