Human rights panel honors four
The Auburn Human Rights Commission is hosting a Recognition Award Program from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 4, in the Council Chambers, Auburn City Hall.
Honorees this year are Rick Emanuel, Penny Lupo, Kathleen Bennett, all recipients of the community award, and Reagan Cuddy, a youth award winner.
Guest speaker will be Guy Cosentino.
Tickets are $10, and available in advance or at the door. Call 255-4122 to reserve your seat.
All proceeds will benefit the Auburn Human Rights Scholarship Fund.
Schweinfurth hosts culinary fundraiser
Auburn's arts patrons will open their homes for a benefit dinner and culinary adventure in support of the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center on Oct. 21.
Eight hosts will provide the hospitality, and the region's wineries and Skaneateles' newest gourmet restaurant will provide the food and wine.
The event will kick off with a catered cocktail party sponsored by Jack and Kathy McLane at the home of Rick and Debbie Moscarito where guests#' names will be drawn from a hat to determine where they will eat their gourmet meal.
Guests will then move on to one of eight dinner parties that will be held at private homes and the opportunity to meet new people and to enjoy a gourmet meal.
Following dinner, participants will join together again for dessert and coffee at the Schweinfurth Art Center.
Joelle's French Bistro (due to open later this year in Skaneateles) will provide the entrees, bread will be provided by Wegmans and wine will be donated by local wineries.
Dinner hosts for the event are Gilda and Bob Brower, Mimi and Tom Champion, Anne Marie and Carmen Cosentino, Janie and Jim Hutchinson, Jesse Kline and Greg Munno, Kathy and Jack McLane, Richard and Diane Stankus, and Rick and Debbie Moscarito.
Tickets are $60 per person and are available at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center.
Proceeds will help support the art center's programs and exhibitions.

The National Association of Retired Federal Employees, chapter 1620, will meet at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Abigail's Restaurant, Routes 5 and 20, Waterloo.
All active and retired federal employees are invited.
Scale model show and contest is set
The International Plastic Modelers Society Presents SYRCON 19, Syracuse area#'s largest scale model show and contest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Pensabene's Casa Grande (formerly Knights of Columbus), 135 State Fair Blvd., Syracuse.
Admission for adults is $3, children under 12 are free. Aircraft, cars, ships, armor, figures, science fiction and others will be represented.
