Puppet theater plays at Schweinfurth
The Catskill Puppet Theater will perform one of its newest puppets shows, “The Lions Whiskers,” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, 205 Genesee St.
This puppet show is a musical adaptation of a traditional Ethiopian folktale. The show features masks and puppets ranging from almost life-size to gigantic, and includes shadow puppetry and original songs.
Cost is $5 for adults, members and children under 12 are free.
‘Spread the Warmth' at Trinity church
Trinity United Methodist Church will be hosting its third annual “Spread the Warmth” program.
Gently used winter coats, hats, mittens, etc. for all ages will be distributed to those in need, at no charge. This event will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30. The door on the corner of Evans and Genesee streets will be open.
All are welcome.
Sicz Club plans dinner-dance
A dinner-dance to honor members of the Sicz Club with 25 years of service and to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the club is planned for Oct. 7, at the club at 145 Washington St.
Cocktails will be served at 5 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $20 per person for the dinner and dance and $10 for students and the dance only.

Budem-Razom, a Ukrainian band from Rochester, will perform along with Dunaj a dance group from Rochester.
Women honored for service to SU
The following Syracuse University employees celebrated years-of-service milestones during the month of September.
Patricia Bench of Cato was honored recently for her service to the Syracuse University Library.
Bench, office supervisor in the Syracuse University Library, celebrated 25 years of service at Syracuse University.
Annette Bailey of Auburn was also honored for her service to the university.
Bailey, a library technician in the Syracuse University Library, also celebrated 25 years of service.
Autumn gala set for Savannah Dhu
The Erie Canal Museum's eighth annual Autumn Gala Fundraiser will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Savannah Dhu in Clyde.
Edward Kochian, deputy county executive, Onondaga County and Kathleen A. Rapp, Onondaga County Legislator are the event's Honorary Co-Chairs.
Robert and Suzanne Congel are sponsors and hosts of the evening.
Included in the evening will be self-guided tours of the property, culinary delights, and musical guests Bob Piorun and The Convertibles will play.
Tickets are $150 per person; $250 per couple.
The Erie Canal Museum preserves and promotes the history and heritage of the Erie Canal.
Gala proceeds support programs for children and adults, exhibitions, research, and preservation of the landmark 1850 Syracuse Weighlock Building.
