Two Cents

A tail-gater depends on his brake instead of his brain.
And all this time I thought a new cable contractor would honor its customers by not increasing the volume of its commercials by 50 percent or more!

Pro-choice, pro-life - let's stop sugar coating everything. Calling yourself pro-life doesn't make you more admirable or less ignorant, and I am more than happy to proudly state that I support abortion rights.

A politician is like quicksilver; if you try to put your fingers on him, you will find nothing under it.

Several years ago Auburn school district had the opportunity to sign a soft drink contract with Coke or Pepsi that would be used to revitalize sports and possibly artificial turf. Why didn't you do it 10 or 12 years ago when you had the chance?

The city should probably start painting the pavement markings on many of the city streets. Many lines are faded severely, especially downtown where there are none and it's hard for anyone to figure out what is a lane and where they should be.

Can someone please explain why Howard Street is taking over two months to be paved? Where is the buck going to stop?

" "Silent No More" is a rapidly growing movement of women who have had abortions, and are letting other women know that this is not a "choice" or a "right", but rather a mistake you will regret for the rest of your life. "Project Rachel" also provides loving counseling and healing for women who have had abortions; they can be reached by contacting any local Catholic church. "

" Mark your calendars to Vote "NO" on the Auburn $13 million school improvements, and Vote "NO" on the $2 million astroturf. VOTE "NO", October 17th at the Seward Elementary School, on Metcalf Ave. "

" This is the file for Two Cents on 16 Sept -- it looks suspiciously identical for the Two Cents for 17 Sept -- what happened to the REAL Two Cents for the 16th? Boy, this paper can't even get their files named correctly. Anyone who wrote in on the 16th -- your thoughts might as well have been written into thin air. "

" Tailgaters, indeed, though I don't know why my two cents yesterday about the tailgating van on South St was cut -- I may have to find the phone number of the company for whom he was driving (cell phone in left hand, gesturing wildly with right, steering with right forearm only and only feet off my bumper -- while a Sheriff passed us in the other lane and didn't even notice) and let them know how dangerous this driver of theirs is. " Thank you to Time Warner for the fantastic coverage of the Auburn High School football game Friday night. Great commentators, instant replays, it looked like the NFL, very impressive! "

" It's nice to know that John Walsh Blvd is pretty much a WalMart access road at this point. Knowing the way that things (don't) get done around here, I'm thinking that's all it's ever going to be. "
