AUBURN - By 7:15 a.m, more than an hour before Genesee Elementary School opened its doors to students, Judy Garrett had arrived to begin a final, meticulous canvas around Room 125.
A new first-grade teacher beginning her initial first day Wednesday, Garrett was still at it 45 minutes later.
“I just want everything to run smoothly,” she said, admitting to jitters. Anything out of the ordinary, she anticipated, could throw her day off: temper tantrums, naturally anxious parents who might linger just a little too long.
