Helen Kuczek was on her lunchtime walking routine with a colleague when she was hit by what she believes was BB shot.
Kuczek, of 20 Norman Ave., Auburn, was on North Street near the Genesee Gardens Apartments when she felt a sting on her left buttocks around 1:15 p.m. Friday.
"I knew I was hit by something powerful. I jumped ... I knew it was no stone," Kuczek said.
The 33-year secretary at the Auburn Correctional Facility was left with a black mark on her pants and a nasty welt on her body. She already had an appointment the next day with her doctor who examined the mark and said it was probably from a BB gun.
Kuczek did not see a shooter. She is not sure if the assailant was a pedestrian in the nearby apartment complex or from a passing car.
Kuczek has reported the incident to the Auburn Police Department who have referred it to Det. Thomas Burger for investigation.
