The Italians of Auburn are planning for a big time at Syracuse on Sept. 20, when they will commemorate the capture of Rome by Victor Emanuel in 1870. The Auburnians will go by special cars via the Auburn and Syracuse railroad.

A colorful collection of souvenirs gathered by Scout Jack Miller in Europe and Africa on his recent trip to the Scout World Jamboree at Bad Ischl, Austria, is now on display in the Smith and Pearson show window on Genesee Street.

Richard Nash was presented with a letter encased in a glass frame by Mayor Christopher DeAngelis proclaiming Sept. 12-14, 1996 Disabled Vet-Forget-Me-Not-Days. Nash was formerly commander of Joseph E. Rice Memorial Chapter. He was joined by Ralph Terino, the current chair of Forget-Me-Not.

P&R Truss Company, located in Technology Park, has been acquired by Universal Forest Products, Inc., North America's largest producer of engineered roof systems and pressure-treated wood. The two companies have signed a letter of intent spelling out the terms of the agreement. P&R Truss has nearly 50 employees who manufacture wood-roof trusses which range in size from 2 to 80 feet, for residential homes and commercial office buildings. Visitors to Falcon Park on North Division Street can see the larger trusses outside the Allen Street facility.
