Auburn, Weedsport battle to 1-1 tie in field hockey

WEEDSPORT - Sarah James scored on an Allie Beardsley assist to give the Weedsport field hockey team an early lead in Friday night's season opener against Auburn. Despite several chances the score, the Maroons scored with just 16 seconds remaining in the game to force overtime. Alesha Shftic scored on an assist from Lauren Shaw. The game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Megan Henderson recorded nine saves in goal for the Warriors. Liz Vozga had seven for Auburn.

The Maroons (0-0-1) host Rome Free Academy tomorrow, while the Warriors (0-0-1) head to Cazenovia on Wednesday.
