Break out the champagne. Again.
With an 8-7 win over the Jamestown Jammers Monday, the Auburn Doubledays clinched their fifth consecutive Pinckney Division title. Playoffs will begin Saturday, with an opponent to be determined.
Things didn't look good for the Doubledays early.
Auburn scored two runs in the second, thanks to a pair of Jamestown errors.
But they quickly fell behind when Jamestown answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning. After one run in the fourth, Raul Barron strated a three-run rally with a bases-loaded single. A pass ball led to the other Auburn run.
Jamestown refused to go quietly, though. After Auburn produced two more runs in the seventh for an 8-5 lead, the Jammers came right back with two of their own to pull within one.
Dennis Bigley pitched a scoreless ninth for the save.
Six Auburn pitchers combined to throw in the first eight innings and allowed 13 hits. Seth Overbey (4-2) earned the win.
