Congressional candidate Michael Arcuri, a lawyer who touts his law enforcement background, amazed me and many other New York residents when he accepted thousands of dollars of tainted contributions from convicted felon Robert J. “Skip” Anderson Sr. of Whitestown and his associates.
Arcuri took dirty money not only from Anderson, who was convicted of fraud a decade ago, but from other people connected to Anderson's business including a paralegal who doesn't even remember how she gave a maximum $4,000 contribution to Arcuri and according to the Oneida County Board of Elections, she isn't even registered to vote.
If Mr. Arcuri is the respected enforcer of New York's laws he claims he is, he should not have accepted these contributions - and it's not like just one slipped by in an oversight, there were several of them.
The questions Mr. Arcuri needs to answer are many, including what his relationship is with Mr. Anderson and why he is not using his supposed law enforcement experience to prosecute criminals instead of accepting money from them.
The question the public needs to answer is simple: Does Mr. Arcuri deserve to be in Congress?
