Emerald Payroll forces Game 3

Micah Quigley drove in two runs, and Justin Valentino had a triple to lead Emerald Payroll to a 3-2 victory over Auburn Kiwanis in Game 2 of the Auburn Pony League championship series. The series is tied 1-1, and Game 3 will decide a winner.

Valentino, Hunter Charles and Kevin Gauthier combined to strike out 12 batters. Paul Clark and Adam Lupien led Emerald's defense.

Dan DeFranco and Cody Ladisair had hits for Kiwanis, and Ladisair and Mikey Charles combined for 12 strikeouts.

In Little League action, Connor Soules had four hits, and Dana Scarselletta had a triple and a double to lead Mortimer's to the championship game with a 10-8 win over Kayn Design.

Matt Nolan, Aaron Robinson, Kyle Hylwa, Jamie Terry and Abby Valentino all had hits to contribute in the win. Nolan struck out nine batters for the win, and Scarselletta got the save.

Matt Colella struck out 11 batters for Kayn. Jim Spinelli had four hits, Liam Grzasko had two hits, and Jared Funk and Matt Netti chipped in hits.

Mortimer's also defeated

Bobby Kick hit a bases loaded triple in the top of the seventh inning to bring in the deciding runs as the Little Giants defeated Mortimer's 10-5 in an extra-inning playoff game. Vince Giannettino and Bobby Kick combined to strike out nine batters in the win as Peter Sigona and and Brian Roe were major offensive contributers for the Giants.

Jamie Terry struck out 13 batters and along with Liam Major and Matt Nolan led the offense for Mortimer's.

Mortimer's 10, Kayn's Design 8.
