Delgadillo out, McGuigan in
On August 7, the Toronto Blue Jays promoted right-hand pitcher Hector Delgadillo from the Doubledays to the Lansing Lugnuts, again. This is his second stint this season with the mid-A full season affiliate.

Delgadillo began the season in Auburn and went 2-1 in five starts. He made a relief appearance and gave up three runs in two innings before returning to the Doubledays on July 28. He then went 1-1 in two more starts.

Pat McGuigan will be replacing Delgadillo on the roster after being promoted from the Pulaski Blue Jays. McGuigan is Toronto's 27 round draft pick this year and is from the University of San Francisco. He served as a closer for Pulaski, going 1-0 with seven saves and an 1.53 ERA.

McGuigan was named to the 2006 Lincoln All-Regional Team and owns a share of USF all time wins and is the team's career leader.

Three Doubledays named all-stars

The New York-Penn League announced three Auburn Doubledays to the American League roster in Wednesday's All-Star Game. Ben Zeskind, Scott Campbell and pitcher Zach Dials were all named to the team last week.

Zeskind, is hitting .282 with one home run and 21 RBI. New Zealand's first ever player to be selected in the MLB draft, Scott Campbell, has spent most of his time in the lineup in the leadoff spot and is hitting .274 with a ..378 on base percentage.

Zach Dials is unable to attend the all-star game due to an injury but has been solid for the Doubledays this season, with a 4-2 record, two saves and an 1.16 ERA.

The second New-York Penn League All-Star Game will be at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, MD.

Bats are hot early, tend to cool off late

The Doubledays are 22-1 this season when they lead after eight innings, but coincidentally that is the one inning that they don't score a lot of runs.

In 49 games this season, Auburn has scored just 15 runs in the eighth, the least in any inning. Fans at Falcon Park should stay in their seats in the fourth and seventh innings since that is when they score the most, 33 and 30 runs, respectively.

Doubledays opponents scored just 12 runs in the ninth inning in the same amount of games, and only 13 in the sixth.

The Bulkley Report

Tri-City Valleycats' outfielder Aaron Bulkley has upped his average to .217 with 13 hits in 21 games.

Bulkley has also shown off some power, with one home run and three doubles.
