The Booker T. Washington Center is celebrating summer the whole way through.
Hosting its annual field days Saturday gives all its summer participants, and anyone else from the community one last chance to enjoy summer vacation before heading back to school, said BTW program director Crystal Rozelle.

“It's also an opportunity for families to learn more about our programs,” Rozelle said.

Registration for afterschool programs will also begin at the field days, which will be a day full of inflatables, water games, live entertainment, a chicken barbecue dinner and fun with friends.

The event isn't about making money, Rozelle said - the center just about breaks even with the event - but it is instead about promoting their kindergarten through 12-grade afterschool activities that include tutoring, field trips, basketball, bowling and more.

“(The programs are) a great time,” she said. “And this is a great way to end the summer.”
