Countdown to the Great Race: 4 days
The Great Race will be held Aug. 13, with five distinct run, bike, paddle (either canoe or kayak) team triathlon relay races at Emerson Park.

There will be the traditional canoe race, short canoe race, traditional kayak race, short kayak race and traditional tandem race.

Applications can be picked up at the YMCA or the Great Race office on Williams Street.

Auburn softball holding car wash

There will be a car wash from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Auburn Arby's on Grant Avenue to benefit the Auburn softball program.

The donation is $5 per car.

Dance performance at Montezuma

There will be a world premiere show from the Kaleidoscope Dance Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge.

Directed and choreographed by Sean McLeod, the production is called “Of This Earth: A Walk With Nature” and will offer a new outlook on nature.

Dutch Hollow CC hosting tourney

The Finch For Assembly Annual Golf Tournament will be held Aug. 14, at Dutch Hollow Country Club with registration starting at 10:30 a.m. before an 11 a.m. shotgun start.

The cost is $400 per team, $100 for individuals and includes food and beverages throughout the day, numerous on-course contests and a steak roast dinner and awards ceremony following golf.

Basketball camp starts Aug. 21

Auburn varsity basketball coach Al Giannone is instructing a basketball camp, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Aug. 21-25, at the YMCA.

The camp is open to boys and girls ages 7 to 15. The fee is $35 for YMCA members and $70 for the general public.

Women's district tourney coming up

The Cayuga County Women's District Golf Tournament will take place Aug. 12-13, with the first day being played at Owasco Country Club and the second day being played at Dutch Hollow Country Club.

The tournament is open to all women in Cayuga County or those who play in golf leagues in Cayuga County.

The cost is $60, and it will be a scratch-flighted tournament.
