A Cayuga County grand jury has indicted an Ira man this week on charges he abducted a woman and raped her in a wooded field in Sterling.
Harold Calkins, 21, of P.O. Box 166, White Cemetery Road, Ira, faces nine felony charges related to the accusation he used a knife to force an 18-year-old woman to perform different sexual acts with him.
Calkins was arrested July 4 based on identifying information the victim provided to state police in Wolcott.
He was arrested three days after the July 1 attack.
He is accused of cutting the woman with the knife and used the knife to cut off her hair.
Calkins faces the felony charges of three counts of first-degree rape, two counts of second-degree assault, three counts of first-degree sexual act and one count of second-degree kidnapping.
Calkins is still in custody at the Cayuga County Jail on bail set in Sterling Town Court at $250,000.
Also indicted were:
€ Joshua Bodoh, 25, of 8525 Summerwind Drive, Fayetteville, N.C., has been indicted on the felony charges of second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Bodoh is accused of an early-morning July 3 assault at Spirit's in downtown Auburn.
A Florida man was struck in the face with a glass beer bottle.
The man's facial lacerations required more than 50 stitches to close the wound.
