Cornell to offer study program
Registration for Cornell University's part-time/extramural study program begins Aug. 24 and lasts through Sept. 1. Designed for anyone seeking to further their education or advance professionally, the program is open to all area residents ranging from high-school students to retirees.
Participants can register for credit, audit classes without a grade or, for substantial tuition reduction, enroll on a non-credit basis through the Visitors' Program for a nominal fee.
For more information, visit the Cornell University Web site at www.sce.cornell.edu/exmu, call (607) 255-4987, or e-mail cusce@cornell.edu.
Serling festival seeks video entries
Young writers, directors and actors may send entries to the 2007 Rod Serling Video Festival. Entries are now being accepted for student-produced videos; all students from kindergarten through high school across New York and Pennsylvania are eligible to enter this video competition.
Prizes are awarded for best of show; best directing; best animation; best K-6 entry and best special effects.
Prizes include a digital camcorder, digital recorder and a year's worth of video rentals. Entries must be on videotape (VHS) or DVD, and may not exceed five minutes.
Complete festival rules are available on the festival Web site, www.RodSterlingVideoFest.com. For more information or to request an entry form, visit the Web site or contact Lawrence Kassan, festival coordinator, at (607) 762-8202.
West Middle School to hold orientation
West Middle School will hold an orientation for incoming sixth-graders and other new students, along with their parents or guardians later this month.
The session will take place Aug. 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the middle school auditorium.
