Members of Clan Buchanan No. 316 will travel to Syracuse on Saturday, Aug. 10, to take part in the Scottish games to be held by Clan Douglas at Griffin Field. This will be the first big day since World War II.

Students in the future may have to meet higher standards in order to participate in sports or other extracurricular activities. The school board is looking into revising those standards. In the proposed revisions, eligibility requirements cover academics, behavior and training. Behavioral standards would include a ban on use of alcohol, drug and tobacco products.

While clearing away tall grass and leafy bushes in the 130-year-old paupers' cemetery on County House Road, county jail inmates uncovered a grave marked with a near two-foot-high cross bearing the name “Red Cloud.” But who was Red Cloud and how had he ended up in the overgrown old burial plot? Lt. John Lamphere of the Cayuga County Sheriff's Department planned to meet with county historian Tom Eldred to try to solve the mystery.
