How dare that person tell us elders how to spend and not spend our money. If we want to have some fun it's our business seeing as how we earned it.
Auburn prison in the last 50 years hasn't caused any more crime or prostitution or drugs in Auburn, only jobs. Why wouldn't the casino do the same thing?

Most of us recall that during times of war patriotism meant a freeze on wages, right? Yet Senator Nozzolio is instead demanding the guards get their three years of pay increases (11 percent) due them because he'd stand to lose too many votes and that would mean he'd probably not be re-elected the next time up.

I always thought there was a city ordinance where lawn mowers, etc., could not be used until 8 a.m. There is nothing like being awakened by a jackhammer outside your window at 7:15 a.m.!

There is a lot of work to be done at Emerson Park. Fix the beach and put in more trees and more picnic tables, have bands and singers - professional and beginners - to make the park fun, and clean it up.

When your reporter put the names and pictures of the officers making the arrest in the drug bust did it ever occur to anyone that you just put those who protect us in danger and risk for the future. It would have made more sense to black out the officers' pictures and not release the officers names.

We all want a $500,000 house, Alpha Romeo car, and Dior clothes. There is a big difference between need and want, such as artificial turf.

The Auburn school district should spend more money on helping students learn and grow. Keep more money in the taxpayers wallets and not install fake grass, called AstroTurf.

I would like to know why Assemblyman Finch and Senator Nozzolio haven't obtained the necessary funding for the Cayuga County Soil and Water District, so they can fix or buy a new aquatic weed control machine, so they can eliminate the overgrowth of weeds on all the lakes in Cayuga County.

I'm sure not many people want to stand around the high school and watch games.

The U.S. should save the world by giving the U.N. a 30-day notice to take their statue of a revolver with a knot tied in the barrel and their MP9 machine pistols and bullet-proof cars and get their butts out of America. Let them get the hundreds of millions of dollars the N.S. has been giving them from North Korea, Iran, Syria, Africa and ... ?

I wish someone would tell Fox News, CNN, et/al to stop describing what businesses, apartment buildings, detailed locations of where the rockets hit or missed. Hezbollah couldn't ask for better spotters for adjusting their aim.

Mayor Lattimore and people of interest, read page C3 on Monday's The Citizen. The girl who works in Auburn or the Finger Lakes when asked where she sees herself in 10 years - “out of Auburn.”

" Astro turf would benefit what percentage of the student body? Any guess? Not as many as you might think. Have you seen the dropout rates of area schools? Do you honestly think Astro-turf will change it? It takes more than an expensive piece of fake grass to get students to love where they live and want to stay. If you want the youth to stay then they need good paying jobs that offer the promise of a future. Most of the best and brightest move on to greener pastures, nearly all of the drop-outs stay to breed more drop-outs. This area doesn't have a whole lot to offer to our children. Retail stores do not pay a living wage. Criticize a senator? Why not? Just where do you think that money comes from? If you have a job it was lifted from your pocket. It should be spent wisely and not used as some vote-getting ploy like this. Education IS about books and studying, as well as spelling and grammar. Do you know what the number one complaint among prospective employers is? They can't find properly trained and educated employees. A green rug won't change that situation one bit. "

" All the people whining about how great corrections officers have it are free to take the up-coming test and start living on easy street.Don't talk the talk if you're too scared to walk the walk "

" This is in regards to the letter by the gentleman who was so bold to attack Senator Nozzolio's decision regarding the pay raise to correction's officers. Well let me tell ya, I sure wouldn't want to be doing the job they are doing. They work hard, keeping us all safe. They deserve their money. Likewise what is the sense of not wanting people to start work early in the morning? I agree it can desturb your sleep, but earlier they start their jack hammering, the quicker the city projects get finished, and the more beautiful Auburn looks. I for one would be more than willing to suffer a little noise pollution to get the city I love in tip top shape. Also who are you to criticize the senator for his decisions on what to spend money on? Auburn High could greatly use Astro Turf, shouldn't our children come first? Education isn't all books and studying. It takes comprimise. If you can't get the students to love where they are, and what they are doing. Then you have missed the whole education boat alltogether. The problem with yanking money from these projects is that it doesn't think of anyone else, it only puts the interests of a certain age group first. I'm sorry, but today's youth needs all the help they can get. They should be the ones thought about, not the elders. "
